The Whatman Mini-UniPrep™ Syringeless Filters provide a faster and easier way to remove particulates from samples being prepared for High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)/Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC) analysis. In fact, Whatman Mini-UniPrep lets you prepare samples in one third the time required by other methods. Add up the time savings, plus the money saved from cutting multiple consumables out of the sample preparation process and you'll see huge benefits for your laboratory.
Whatman Mini-UniPrep is a preassembled filtration device consisting of a 0.4mL capacity chamber and a plunger. The plunger contains a filtration membrane at one end and preattached cap/septum at the other. The plunger is pressed through the sample in the outer chamber and positive pressure forces the filtrate into the reservoir of the plunger. Air escapes through the vent holes until the locking ring is engaged providing an air-tight seal. Within seconds the Mini-UniPrep can be placed into your autosampler tray for injection into your instrument.
The device can be used either manually or with a compressor unit. The multi-compressor can process up to 6 samples at one time, further improving sample processing time and reducing the risk of hand stress. The Whatman Mini-UniPrep device is designed to fit into any autosampler accommodating 12x32mm vials. Alternatively, the septum can be pierced with a needle and the sample drawn off for manual injection into an analyzer.

The Whatman Mini-UniPrep™ G2 Syringeless filter simplifies UHPLC/HPLC sample preparation over the traditional syringe filter method. The Whatman Mini-UniPrep G2 is an all-in-one intergrated filter that replaces the syringe, syringe filter, glass vial, cap, and septum. After the filtration step, Whatman Mini-UniPrep G2 can be placed directly into the autosampler in readiness for injecting sample into the UHPLC/HPLC instrument.
The Whatman Mini-UniPrep G2 includes an integral borosilicate glass vial housed within the plunger and a borosilicate glass chamber for holding the unfiltered liquid. During the filtration step, the plunger is compressed into the glass chamber containing the unfiltered liquid. As the plunger travels downward, liquid flows through the filtration membrane to the top of the plunger and drops into the glass collection vial housed within the plunger. Therefore, the sample only contacts plastic for a very short period of time, i.e. only while the plunger is being compressed through the unfiltered liquid. Once compressed, the Whatman Mini-UniPrep G2 is ready to be loaded directly on to the autosampler.
Whatman Mini-UniPrep G2 comes in a number of configurations including slit septa for those autosamplers and robotic systems that require a slit septa. It is also available in amber for light-sensitive samples. Amber Whatman Mini-UniPrep meets the requirements of the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) and European Pharmacopeia (EP) for light transmission.
